Collins Street is the go-to place for Melburnians in search of fancy pants cocktails and classy digs and State of Grace is no exception. Their State Of Grace restaurant/bar upstairs has that 1920s American vibe but it’s behind the ‘secret door’ down the narrow staircase into the cellar you’ll find Fall From Grace, a speakeasy-style bar full of beautiful bookcases and lush furniture.

Drinks: The impressive drinks menu will please even the most discerning patrons. A large selection of cocktails, wine, beers, spirits and more, the knowledgeable bar staff seemed more than happy to recommend something to suit our mood. Whilst many bars don’t cater for brandy and Cognac drinkers looking for something different, Fall From Grace were stocked up with European imports behind their beautiful bar. Dark woods, luxurious fabrics and unusual, decor make this place a very cool, very warm, very welcoming place for an after work drink.

Food: Their grazing menu is the perfect example of quality over quantity. With a number of small share plates you’ll find yourself having more of a social snack than a real sit down mean. From their popular charcuterie or cheese boards to their fat chips, all of the food is served beautifully and well made. Try their grilled haloumi with port poached wild figs for something deliciously indulgent.

All in all: Fall From Grace will make you feel like you’re part of a secret club, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city for an evening of decadence. The drinks are lovely, the staff are lovely, the food is lovely and you just can’t help but feel really bloody cool.
